Google My Business gives you the ability to list your business location in Google Maps and local search results.
You can display important information about your business, including opening / closing times, contact details or a link to your website. Most recently Google also released a new feature that allows you to post links to articles or upcoming events. About that later.
The list is free but all businesses should consider this a requirement. If your business is an online business and you do not have a physical store, you should still consider having a Google My Business page.
Improve the local search visibility of your businesses
Setting up your Google My Business List is one of the simplest and most effective ways to view your business online. More and more search queries are becoming geographically specific and Google’s algorithms have been developed to take into account user intent.
Perhaps you have done a Google search for ‘places to eat near me’, then you will notice that Google gives a list of three places you can eat based on your current location. The three businesses shown as a result of your search query have a GMB page and are one step closer to attracting you as a customer.
If these places do not have a GMB page to eat they will not be displayed. Think about this in the context of your business, what product or service you are selling. How do local searches benefit your business and what would you miss without one?
Because Google makes regular changes to its methods, if you want to be found in local search, you must have a Google My Business listing and constantly improve it.
